Durable Wire Fencing

Don’t let the wires’ flimsiness lull you into underestimating this fencing choice. A material that can allow strong winds to pass through or bend upon impact can perform better than one that’s rigid. When attached to a solid foundation, woven wire fences can give you a whole lot for less cost.

As a testament to our dedication to high-quality security fencing, we source our woven wires from Emu Wire, which is based in Somerton. For over 30 years, it has provided tried-and-tested wires for fences and gates not just in Melbourne but across the country. Choose between powder-coated and galvanised wire for your fence.

Powder Coating

By applying an electrical charge to the coloured powder, the wire can sport the colour of your choice and be protected from rusting caused by exposure to the local climate. The process is simpler than galvanising, which helps keep costs low, and offers a wider range of colours.

Galvanisation

Also called hot-dip galvanisation, this process involves bathing the wire in a molten aluminium-zinc bath. It results in the wire being coated in two sacrificial layers that corrode in the wire’s place. Galvanised wires are better protected against the elements than their powder-coated counterparts.

We understand that choosing between the two can be a hassle. You can trust us to assist in making a decision that satisfies your needs and, more importantly, your budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

Won’t the galvanised layer protecting the wire disappear eventually?

Yes, but not for another 30 or 40 years after the treatment, which is quite long-lasting for a fencing material. If you see the woven wire fence rusting too early in its lifespan, don’t be alarmed. It can mean that the anti-corrosion layer is doing its job.

Where can I learn about my colour options for woven wire fences?

Emu Wire uses the Duralloy® Solid Colour Range to colour its wires. Click here for details on the available colour options.

Do you also provide a woven wire gate?

Yes, and Emu Wire also supplies the wire to be fashioned into a gate.
