A permit is also required for fences in properties within 30 metres of the Maribyrnong River, regardless of material or position. The city council sets an absolute limit of 1.2 metres for a fence built on such properties and requires them to be visually permeable.
Note that all fences are still subject to terms under Regulation 424, which means the fence height limits can be less than what’s mentioned earlier.
